Questions You May Ask Yourself

  • What is the Ph.D. degree? You may want to read these notes on the Ph.D. degree.

  • Are you a person who enjoys applying math and physics to solve engineering problems? How would you demonstrate that to me?

  • Have you ever given up on a math problem? Why? or Why not?

  • How confident are you about your background on electromagnetic theory and mechanics?

  • Do you have some familiarity with machine learning, control systems, power electronics, and power systems?

  • Have you ever conducted dynamic simulations in silico of a physical system that you have modeled from scratch?

  • How good are you at listening to people while remaining silent?

  • Are you capable of quickly recognizing your own technical mistakes and rectifying them even if that signifies A LOT OF extra work?

  • Are you capable of riding through professional challenges? What are your past experiences and employed strategies for resilience from such challenges?

  • Are you a proactive person? or do you need of a boss for every direction? Do you have a concrete example of your autonomy or dependency?
