Software and Equipment

Power System Software

We have PSCAD professional and student licenses as well as PLECS academic licenses to conduct industrial grade numerical simulations of modern power systems.

Computational Hardware

We have acquired a state-of-the-art computational server featuring four NVIDIA A100 GPUs (each with 6912 CUDA and 432 Tensor cores @1410 MHz) and two AMD EPYC 7742 CPUs (each with 64 cores @2.25GHz-3.4Ghz).

This state-of-the-art equipment is to support the demanding computational needs of our power-engineering business, e.g., dynamic simulation and artificial intelligence.

Real-Time Simulation

We have two RT box 3 and one RT box 1 to test controls using physics-based representations of converter-based generation assets such as wind and solar resources.

Power Hardware

My group has a state of the art grid emulator AMETEK MX30-3Pi to perform demanding power hardware in the loop experiments as to physically test the performance of converter-based generation and controls during severe transients.
