Lectures Week 14

	Monday: Boosting, based on the paper, Boosting, a recent tutorial article by Schapire (proposed ADABOOST) on Boosting, its history and variations.
	Wednesday and Friday: Guest lectures by Dr. Dianne Cook from the ISU statistics department on statistical visualization for feature selection and finding the number of clusters. Please be on time to class.

Lectures Week 15 Feature selection methods

Monday: Filters

	Information theory based approach to feature selection (RELIEF)
	Correlation-based feature selection, comparison to wrappers

Wednesday: Wrappers (Kohavi and John)

	Basic paper describing wrapper approach
	More detailed paper with more thorough description (44 pages)

Friday: Multidimensional Scaling:

	Webpage by Stephen P. Bourgatti, with good description and example.
	Matlab example using the statistics toolbox

Finals Week: Monday 8 AM (of course): project presentation, reports due by Friday noon of finals week.
