INDIVIDUAL PROJECT 1: Stiffened Panel Task

Problem Statement

Part A
For the above problem statement perform 3.1 Approach of our methodology.
Do only one concept as follows:
Concept #1 Concept #2 Concept #3
Williams Johnson Matheis
Oliver Katzer Beberniss
Schweiger Lestari Liew
Anderson Graupman
Submit: A Brief report covering the following:

Planning

  • Outline approach as steps in words
  • Give a breakdown by sub-task
  • State criterion for solution
  • Physical principles involved
  • Data needed, found (source)
Scheduling
  • Fill out a bar chart for the sub-tasks.

  • On the time scale count hours of effort beginning at time zero.
  • Make a CPM drawing and show the critical path
Due: Tuesday, February 9, 11AM

Part B
Continue with the methodology steps 3.2 & 3.3 and obtain a first feasible solution by developing a computer program which will run on the SGIs.

It should use

  • an input file: All parameters and fixed constraints should be read into the program from a file in the 2-column form:    value   /   name
  • an output file: Output criterion functions and inequality values (e.g. margins of safety) should be output to a file in the same format (value   /   name).
Use your program and files with program "tradeoff" to search for a feasible solution.

Submit:

  1. A brief report guided by the headings in [Methodology Notes: Methodology Table] and the example in [Methodology Notes:E. Example]
  2. Use "snapshot" & attach a copy of the feasible solution shown on "tradeoff"
Due: Thursday, February 18, 11AM

Part C

Continue with the methodology step 3.4.

Submit:Status report guided by the headings of the Methodology step 3.4
