GROUP PROJECT 2: CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
NEEDS STATEMENT:
An assortments of small rivets ends up in a common bin in a sheet-metal shop. They are standard rivets
ranging in shank diameters from 1/16 to 1/4 and shank lengths from 1/4 to 2 in. There are 2 head types: button
and flat countersunk, and 2 material types; steel and aluminum.
The potential user should be able to use the devise to sort out a needed size and type easily and quickly, and
would like to be able to produce the device easily in a small shop.
A goals study indicates that the following are important attributes to consider:
- weight
- self-containment
- ease of use
- simplicity of construction
- portability
- cost
- durability
- maintainability
The above list is not meant to imply order of importance.
