HOMEWORK #6
Due Monday April 1
- The Cessna Citation has the following characteristics approximately:
weight = 19815 lb
wing span = 53.3 ft
wing reference area = 318 sq. ft.
Oswald efficiency = .8
If the aircraft is flying at 15,000 ft in the standard atmosphere, at
an equivalent airspeed of 500 ft/s and requires a thrust of 2080 lb
to maintain straight and level flight,
determine:
- lift coefficient
- total drag coefficient
- induced drag coefficient
- profile drag coefficient
- The aircraft of the previous part comes in to land at sea level at an
equivalent airspeed of 170 ft/s. Assuming the profile drag coefficient
does not change from that calculated above, and that the aircraft weight has
not changed, determine the following:
- induced drag coefficient
- thrust required to hold the aircraft in straight and level flight
