Srikanta Tirthapura

I am an associate professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University. I received my B.Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 1996, and my Ph.D., also in Computer Science, from Brown University in 2002, where my advisor was Prof. Maurice Herlihy. In 2009 and 2010, I worked in the industry as a Consulting Member of Technical Staff at Oracle Corporation.

Research

I am interested in algorithms and software tools for large scale data analysis, and in particular, real-time analysis of data streams. Current projects are:

  • Real-time Analysis of Massive Graphs
  • Anomaly Detection on Streaming Data
  • Distributed Streams

In Summer 2013, I will be visiting with Microsoft Research, Cambridge, to work on Algorithms and Systems for Big Data Analytics.

I am fortunate to work with these students at Iowa State.

List of publications.

I am involved in the committees of the following conferences. Please consider submitting good papers to these venues.
  • Review Board for VLDB 2014 (International Conference on Very Large Databases)
  • BDA 2013 (Second International Conference on Big Data Analytics, Mysore, India)
  • ICPP 2013 (International Conference on Parallel Processing, Lyon, France)
  • IWQoS 2013 (ACM/IEEE International Workshop on Quality of Service)
